Welcome back to Horizons!!
We are so excited to have all of our sweet babies back at Horizons this year! This summer is definitely going to be a little different, but with your help, we can make it super successful! Ms. Reese and myself, Ms. Douglas, will be your students' teachers for the summer! We want to work to make virtual Horizons as easy to navigate and use as possible. We are always available to call, text, or email to help you with any needs. I will link our emails at the bottom of this email! Accessing our Website: In order to access our virtual classroom, you can go to horizonsgammagroup.weebly.com. You can also access our website by going to the Horizons at Home tab on the Horizons Website! All of the students assignments will be posted under the assignment tab on our website! There is also a great calendar that will help guide you and your student through the next six weeks! I have linked the calendar below! Students are going to be on a Monday through Friday schedule. The structure of the schedule will be as follows: Monday- RULER and Mood Meter Tuesday- Novel Study; Bummer in the Summer Wednesday: Math Thursday: Reading Friday: Virtual Field Trips Bag of Supplies: At our Horizons supply pick up, you got a variety of resources! In your bag, you received a Summer Bridges Book, small books, and flash cards. These are for you and your student to work though at your own pace! We encourage you to use all of these resources as you see fit! The Summer Bridges book is super simple to navigate and can help keep any learning “fresh” for your student! Binder: Also from Horizons, you picked up a Gamma Group binder! This is going to be the materials your student works through with Ms. Reese and Ms. Douglas! We ask that you do not work ahead in this binder as we will be working through these materials with the students week by week. Each section of the binder is separated with a sheet of blue paper to serve as a divider for each section. For whatever materials the student needs for the lesson, we will instruct them where to go in the binder! If you ever want to send us any of the student work, feel free to snap a picture and send it to us! In your binder, you received a novel, a deck of cards, and a mood meter print out (located in the very back pocket of the binder.) The mood meter has magnets and can be placed on your fridge for you to talk with your students about their emotions and where they are feeling on the mood meter. The novel, Bummer in the Summer, will be part of our assignments for every Tuesday. Please don’t read ahead! The deck of cards will be used for a variety of activities. Of course you can play with them, but please don’t lose them as we will need them for our activities! We hope that this helps navigate this summer at Horizons! If you have any questions feel free to contact Miss Douglas at [email protected] and Ms. Reese at [email protected].
